(As the title mentions, this is photo intensive. I appologize in advance if this takes a long time to load on your system. It's worth it, though, I promise!)
I know what you have all been saying. I hear the murmurings. Does Cassa ever finish any of her projects that are not 8 inch squares or hats? Where has all the knitting gone? When is Cassa going to knit up some of that homespun yarn she's been working on? What's with all of the orchid photos? Yeah, yeah, I know. Little did you know that I was unable to divulge the recent knitting/spinning content as it was all labelled under the heading of 'TOP SECRET: CHRISTMAS KNITTING'.
Take for example, this wine-bottle cozy. It's knit from some Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Bulky and some super-coiled yarn that I spun. The pattern is the Booze Bag from Knitty.
It was a gift for my Dad, who likes wine. I thought it would look nice on his counter in the kitchen instead of half-empty bottles.
But what about my Christmas? Well, it arrived in this box one day on my door-step. (Of course, I made some calls to make it arrive on my doorstep, but that's something completely different.)
I opened it up, and what did I find? Why, it was this Patrick Green Deb's Delicate Delux drum carder!
I love it, love it, love it! I haven't quite got it all figured out yet, I get some little noils in my batts that I'm sure are because I'm not doing something right. Everything comes out so soft! It turn this:
cria (baby alpaca) into this:
lovely soft batt of fiber. This will be so fun!
So what else have I been working on, you might ask? Well, I worked yesterday on my Mom's armwarmers, as I am trying to have them done by her birthday on the 10th. I'm knitting, for those who don't know or don't remember Seaside in Karaoke. This yarn is so much softer than I had initially thought it was going to be. I love the slow color gradiation in it, as well.
I had Mom try it on when I was in Kansas for Christmas, and it fits great. Now if I can only get past the knitting of the fingers...
Other than that, Rick has been sick for the past couple of days and went to the doctor today. He has a sinus infection, can't talk, and stayed home from work today. I'm convinced that at least some of this was from being out at the farm in the cold on Sunday shooting his new gun at...well...stuff with my step-dad. When I get to take care of him when I get home tonight and maybe, just maybe, I'll get some spinning done.
